Peartree Photography is proud to announce a South African award!
In 2007 we’ve photographed Slee Architect's Stone House that has recently been awarded the prestigious SAIA & VISI’s Building of the Year Award.
It might come as a surprise to some that Peartree Photography does anything but Wedding Photography in Stellenbosch, Cape Town or the Western Cape. This one has been none of the above. The Stone House is situated in Pretoria on a hill overlooking what looks like Savanna plains when the sun rises. Well, if you can imagine far off cars as antelope I suppose ...
The public had to make their choice by judging the photographs of all the buildings entered into this year’s competition.
It has been a huge privilege and challenge to cover this tremendous building in a worthy manner, but it seems we haven’t done too bad after all!

National Geographic Award
According to a world wide survey, the job most people would want to do, is to become a photographer for the National Geographic Magazine. Strangely enough this has never been my dream. But let’s still call this dream come true …
I could not have asked for a better start to 2009. Apart from the start of the Peartree Blog like planned, I received word that one of my pictures will (according to the judges) be featured in the March 09 editions of the National Geographic & National Geographic Travel Magazines! yes, it’s for real!! I am privilege to be one of the 17 Honorable Mention Winners in the National Geographic Intercontinental Photo Contest of 2008. The photo is one that I took in 2004 in my beloved Kenya for the “Instead of Ashes, the Oil of Gladness”-exhibition I had in Esbjerk, Denmark at the end of 2004. Feel free to visit the results HERE …

We've just received word that the image we have entered in a monthly competition took a Gold Award!
We are privileged to say that it is the 2nd time this has been awarded to us by the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers. Like you can imagine, we are over the moon! The photo is from a recent shoot of the lovely couple Doons & Esté close to Hermanus, SA. Enjoy the photo above or see the official result here.
