What a special day filled with special people, places and moments. I am so grateful to have done Antoon & Mariska’s wedding!
Apart from sharing the same passion for trail running (where I have met Mariska with Antoon for the first time), I’ve known Antoon since Uni. He kept in touch with lovely people that I haven’t seen for such a long time. The wedding felt a bit like a reunion for me. Apart from working hard, I could catch up with a few legends from the past. It was truly awesome.
Now this wedding must go down in the books as the biggest C E L E B R A T I O N Matjiesdrift has ever seen. How can I say this? Well, this was a family wedding! It is their farm. How spectacular it was to cram so many people into that wee church on the hill that was envisioned and built by the very people in the room. Those canola fields were shouting, the wind was singing, the sun dancing over the Overberg on Saturday afternoon. Antoon & Mariska – yes, they were flying!
Antoon’s sister coordinated the day and did an amazing job in preparing the venue. Well done Jani! My talented friend Helmut Meijer sang the girls to tears during the ceremony whilst Theo Geyser (whose wedding reception I have done what must be more than 10 years ago now) conducted this special ceremony. Well done to all.
