Why is it that I feel so blessed with the couples I get to photograph?! Really – I keep on meeting absolutely amazing people in this world. And when I think I’ve seen it all, I get to photograph this super special & lovely couple at their wedding at the dramatically beautiful De Hoop Nature Reserve. The world felt a near perfect place at the bottom of Africa this weekend …
B&M wanted their guests from afar to enjoy the whole weekend with them. So they promised free food & wine on the Friday night. In true SA fashion, everyone pitched well in time for the 6pm Park gate deadline that evening. The wind was making its presence felt and all 120 guests huddled together around a huge fire at the newly built De Hoop lapa. With warm, welcoming speeches from the fathers, a lekke spitbraai and personally branded red wine, this weekend was on track to be a huge success.
B&M met on the Koppiealleen dunes prior to the ceremony the Saturday. We gave them time to take the moment and place in. It was beautiful to observe and capture from afar. After rushing back to be in time for the ceremony on the outcrop, we witnessed 2 lives becoming one before their God who presented them with a wind still, perfect evening under the old fig tree. Much laughter, a few thankful tears and a celebration fit for a king, kept us all in a surreal place of lasting joy under those African skies.
My hope for you two is that your presence be like your wedding sky – creating a 5-billion Star moment to all who meet and see you together. Keep shining and always remember those 10,000 reasons to be so deeply thankful for.
