Zorgvliet Wedding Photographer: James and Ali’s Stellenbosch Wedding

I had the pleasure of being the Zorgvliet Wedding Photographer for James and Ali, who married at Zorgvliet in Stellenbosch. With its mountain views, vineyards and that soft Winelands light, Zorgvliet is one of the most beautiful settings in the Cape, and it was the perfect backdrop for the day.

Some weddings feel like a celebration of two people. James and Ali’s felt like a celebration of everything they have been through together.

Ali grew up in South Africa and James is from England, and the two now live in the UK. Seeing them bring their friends and family together here in Ali’s home country, was really special.

This wedding also felt like a reunion for me. I photographed Ali’s brother’s wedding ten years ago, and over the years I have got to know the family well through family shoots. There is something very rewarding about being welcomed back into a family’s story, and being there for this chapter meant a great deal to me.

Ali and James’s story is a remarkable one. After a serious accident, Ali went through a really difficult time, and James stood beside her and supported her every step of the way. She is a determined lady though. Two years later, Ali ran a half marathon, and the two of them have been running together ever since. Few couples have been through that much before their wedding day, and it showed in how close and joyful they were.

James and Ali, thank you for trusting me with your day. It was an absolute privilege, and your Zorgvliet wedding was one for the books.
