I first have to apologise that this is written in English – Lennert is not the biggest fan of the language I know. Seeing himself as a boerseun van die Noord Kaap, he can speak it but prefers to use it as little as possible when his mother tongue can get the job done. No problem there.
This is who Lennert & Riette is. People who know who they are and feel comfortable in their own skin. It doesn’t matter what others think. I loved photographing the two of them and their friends. They are real people, genuine in what they say and do and down to earth. People you can walk far with.
It is not often that one gets the feeling that these people deserve the best day of their lives. It is almost as if you want to give it to them as a gift. A day where they can feel beautiful, loved, together, blessed and happy. This here is my effort to remind them and to somehow prolong the day for the two of them.
